OTOSTAN Treatment for Ear Mites

  OTOSTAN Treatment: What is Biocanina ENT Otostan Auricular Gale 15ml used for? Treatment of ear mites caused by Otodectes cynotis in dogs and cats. Crotamiton has the following properties:

• specific acaricide, in particular against Octodectes cynotis, an agent of ear mites in dogs and cats,
• effective and rapid antipruritic, the action of which begins a few minutes after application and lasts 4 to 6 hours. It leads to a rapid and lasting eradication of ear mites in dogs and cats.

How to recognize an ear mite? As you examine your companion's ear, you should see a fairly large amount of dark brown or even black earwax, relatively dry and crumbly, and possibly smell an unusual odor. The veterinarian can help himself in his diagnosis by taking a sample of cerumen in the ear, in which he can observe, under a microscope, the incriminated parasites: the Otodectes . Ear mites is a very common disease, especially in young animals from the community. It is very difficult to prevent it because it is very contagious between cats and dogs. If the cat you just acquired or your cat back from the cattery is scratching its ears, it could be a mange. OTOSTAN Treatment Dosage

After cleaning the external auditory canal, instill about ten drops of OTOSTAN, then massage the base of the ear to promote good penetration of the product. Repeat the treatment every 2 days for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Precaution of use

• Do not use in case of known allergy to crotamiton.
• In the event of very significant otological damage, it is recommended to ensure the tympanic integrity before applying the solution.
• Always respect the duration of the treatment (beware of recurrences for scabies).
• As a precaution, treat both ears.
• As a preventive measure, treat other sensitive pets in the household (dogs and cats).
